“Freundesland. Erinnerungen” by Rut Brandt
Published in 1999 by Hoffmann und Campe Verlag, 303 pages

After the disappointment with “Obsession” I decided to change genre and picked the memoir by the former wife of the former German chancellor. Years ago I have read it, but I cannot remember at all when that was.

It is a discreet memoir, troubles in their marriage are just sketched, not spread out (which is a nice change in this self-exposing times 🙂 ); and it gives a small insight into Norway during WWII and Germany after WWII.

The book is at my parents, so I have to postpone publishing the first three sentences.
